FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

FIREFLY Fire Protection FAQs

FIREFLY products are used in tested passive fire protection systems for applications including compartmentation of concealed spaces and voids, flexible fire barriers, ablative batt systems and penetration protection. The correct product and system depend on the construction, orientation, required fire resistance and relevant manufacturer detail.

They are different FIREFLY flexible fire barrier systems with different tested Integrity and Insulation performance. Phoenix provides Integrity without an Insulation rating, while Apollo Lite 30:30, Zeus Lite 90:30 and Titan Lite 120:60 provide increasing combinations of Integrity and Insulation. The required system should be selected from the relevant tested detail rather than by product name alone.

FIREFLY provides specifically tested horizontal barrier systems as well as vertical systems. Products such as Apollo Horizontal and Titan Lite Horizontal are designed for horizontal applications. Do not assume that a vertical barrier can be used horizontally unless the manufacturer's tested documentation specifically permits it.

FIREFLY FB180 Ablative Batt is used within tested FIREFLY passive fire protection systems, including complementary details around flexible barriers and dedicated wall or floor compartmentation systems. Different batt thicknesses and arrangements have different applications, so the current FIREFLY installation drawings and product documentation should always be checked.
